Norway, situated in Scandinavia is known for its fjords. These stretches of water are characterized by steep cliffs, which provide perfect natural lookouts. Not all fjords are the same though, and most of them can be hiked or driven to. These three are an absolute must for any visitor to Norway.
The Nærøyfjord
This fjord is actually a breakaway from Sognefjord, with cliffs that tower 1,700 meters above it. Nærøyfjord is an international treasure, and UNESCO has added it to the World Heritage List.
The Hardangerfjord
While Sognefjord is like the father of fjords, Hardangerfjord is like the little sister. The fjord is over 179 meters long and it is framed with a vast amount of Norwegian flora and fauna. Everywhere you look there are glaciers floating and waterfalls cascading into the fjord. A boat tour through the fjord is a must to see all of its beauty.
The Aurlandsfjord
If you’re a photographer, then all of these fjords will be appealing, but Aurlandsfjord holds a special place. The area has numerous hiking trails, and built-in viewpoints for visitors to take pictures from. It’s considered to be one of the most beautiful and the easiest to photograph.
