Accommodation can be the most expensive part of your trip, so many backpackers choose to camp as a way to cut costs. Picking the right tent is very important, so here are a few things you should consider when choosing the perfect tent for you.

Destination

It’s important to buy a tent that would suit the most extreme conditions you’re planning on experiencing, be it the weather at the top of a mountain or a crowded campsite outside a national park.

How many people

This is really important and helps answer other questions, particularly what is the necessary size of the tent and what the budget may be for it.

Weight

Particularly for backpackers, it’s important to make sure that the weight of the tent isn’t going to make moving around too difficult. A spacious tent is comfy, but when carrying it up a mountain the luxury may seem to be less important.

Budget

Last but definitely not least is the budget. While ideally, we would all get the largest tent from the lightest materials, those would cost a pretty penny. Calculate your budget and consider your priorities to camp on budget and have some fun.
