When traveling in a plane, it’s easy to forget something obvious that you might’ve wanted to take in your carry-on luggage.

But did you know that you might also be forgetting things that aren’t so obvious?

Travel can be intense, long, and stressful, and it isn’t always obvious what you’ll need to take with you. So here are four recommendations for things that you never knew you needed to take with you in your carry-on.

Lotion

The recycled, stale air in planes can dry out your skin very quickly. No one wants to have ashy skin, so be sure to take lotion with you to be sure that your skin is taken care of.

Portable Charger

It can be absolutely impossible to find outlets in an airport. And if your plane doesn’t have them, forget about having a charged phone. Take a portable, battery-powered charger with you to ensure that your phone won’t run out of battery.

A Small First-Aid Kit

You won’t have space for a big first-aid kit will all of the things that you might need for travel, but it wouldn’t hurt to pack a small one. Include bandaids, gauze, and other small first-aid essentials that you might need.

Antibacterial Wipes

Traveling puts you in contact with lots of germs. Touching things that have been touched by millions of other travelers can get you sick really quickly. Use antibacterial wipes to clean off anything you can imagine to ensure that you won’t get sick.
