Four Must-Visit Places for Any “Game of Thrones” Fan

Game of Thrones is one of the most popular television series in the world right now.

Based in a fantasy world with dramatic landscapes and beautiful scenes, some of the series’ most attractive shots were filmed in real-life places that were used for the filming of the series.

Here are four places that any Game of Thrones fan must visit to see where their favorite show was filmed.

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Spain

This stunning islet located on the coast of the Basque Country in Spain is a must-visit. Here, a dramatic islet hosts a small church that was used as the filming location for Dragonstone that can easily be visited.

Vík, Iceland

The ice-filled landscape of Vík, Iceland has also lent its scenery to Game of Thrones. This country’s scenery inspired the territory north of the wall in the series. Vík hosts a beautiful black sand beach that was captured in the series.

Things I learnt in Iceland: 1. You will be in a sandstorm, in a blizzard, and have beautiful clear skies within a 10 minute window 2. The winds are wild enough to blow your car off the road (we were actually warned by our car rental 😂) 3. It’s beautiful beyond worlds; no matter how hard you try to explain your experiences and the beauty of the country, you will fail :’) 4. Hot water from the taps smells like eggs 5. Everyone cares about the environment and it’s so refreshing 6. 9 times out of 10 you will feel like you’re on a different planet 7. You should ALWAYS be responsible travellers no matter where you’re going 🥰 8. Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik is a popular spot for Game of Thrones fans due to its pivotal role in the series. Dubrovnik has consistently been used as a shooting spot for King’s Landing, the capital of Westeros.

Real Alcázar: Seville, Spain

This castle in Seville, Spain is not only gorgeous, but it also holds a special meaning for fans of the series. This Moorish palace was fashioned as the Castle of Dorne in Season 5 of GoT.
