Everything You Need to Know about Hong Kong’s New High Speed Train

The Hong Kong high-speed train station officially opened last month and trains are due to run in the coming weeks. This means that by the end of the month, you’ll be able to get to Hong Kong to mainland China by high-speed train for the first time ever.

Here is everything you need to know about the new railway:

    • It will take passengers 14 minutes to travel by bullet train from Hong Kong to Shenzhen Futian and 23 minutes to Shenzhen North. This is four times faster than the ferry.
    • It will take you only 47 minutes to get to Guangzhou. Before, it would take two hours to travel between the two cities.
    • You will soon be able to get from Hong Kong all the way across mainland China to Beijing in only 9 hours.
    • The trains connect to 44 cities in mainland China.
    • The bullet trains travel at an impressive 200 kph!
    • The seats will come with power sockets and they rotate.
    • The train line took three years longer than anticipated and was over 1/3 over its original budget.
