Florida and California aren’t the only states which boast incredible coasters and thrills. Here are five epic theme parks within driving distance of New York City.

Cedar Point (Ohio)

Cedar Point is labeled “Roller coaster Capital of the World” for a reason. Their recent addition to the park, “Valaryn” has broken records for being the fastest, longest and tallest coaster of its kind. If that’s not your thing, there are 17 other coasters to choose from.

Six Flags Great Adventure (New Jersey)

The Six Flags in New Jersey really packs a punch when it comes to thrill coasters. Kingda Ka stands at over 400ft tall and El Toro is a remarkable wooden coaster.

Six Flags America (Maryland)

The Six Flags in America is home to nine roller coasters and has a ripcord ride that drops you eleven stories.

Darien Lake (New York)

Darien Lake is in New York and boasts six coasters and five other high thrill rides. It also has some great water slides and “Ride of Steel” is the tallest and faster coaster in the state.

La Ronde (Montreal)

If you’re willing to drive for six hours up from New York, Montreal’s La Ronde is a charming theme park with an eclectic array of rides. Most impressive is Goliath, which has you zooming over Montreal’s river.
