While New Orleans is the home of jazz music, Detroit is the home of Motown, and the Bronx is known for hip-hop, Nashville is known for country music. Any star who wants to make it in the country music industry knows that it all starts with Nashville, Tennessee. And Nashville has some of the most iconic attractions for any country music lover.

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum

Get to know the history of country as well as present-day artists with exhibits of older artists like Johnny Cash and contemporary singers like Carrie Underwood. The walls are lined with CDs of the musicians and there are costumes and memorabilia from country music’s brightest stars.

Downtown Broadway

On the main street downtown, you’ll see the Honky Tonk Highway which is a stretch of Broadway filled with bars and music venues that play live music well into the night. The most famous venue is Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, which has aspiring songwriters and musicians.

Live Music at The Bluebird Cafe

This cafe is one of the oldest and most well-known places to hear live music. Although the space is small, it usually has a long line waiting out the door to hear the next superstar. Taylor Swift was even discovered here.

The Grand Ole Opry

Since 1925, the venue has been a country music stage for the best performers and the venue does backstage tours, so you can meet your favorite artists.
