Colorado’s Home to America’s Only Mountaintop Theme Park

Does it come as a surprise that America’s only mountaintop theme park is located in the Rocky Mountains? Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, Colorado is the place for families and adventure lovers. The park has it all—there are cave tours, family-friendly attractions, and thrill rides. There’s really something for everyone.

Trust us when we say that this isn’t an ordinary amusement park. Thrill-seekers have to check out the park’s most famous ride, which is the Giant Canyon Swing. It’s a pendulum swing 1,300 feet above the Colorado River that moves four passengers back and forth over a cliff on top of a mountain. The swing almost goes vertical at points and it reaches a speed of 50 miles per hour.

And that’s not the only thrill ride the park offers—there’s the Alpine Coaster, a Haunted Mine Drop, a zip line, and tons of other roller coasters and rides. If fast-paced rides don’t excite you, you can take a scenic trip across a tramway, ride on the Mine Wheel, tour the taverns, head to the 4D theater, climb on the climbing wall, or play laser tag.

Prices start at $16 for kids and $21 for adults and they go up to $56 for kids and $61 for adults. The park is open Sunday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
