Boston, Massachusetts is one of the most historically rich cities in the United States. Founded in 1630, it’s one of the oldest cities in America, and it played a major role in the American Revolution. Not only is it a fascinating place to visit for its history, there are so many educational and cultural institutions to see.  If you are seeking a chance to get a look at a key part of America, visit Massachusetts capital city, Boston.

What To See

Harvard is the oldest university in the US, founded in 1636. Even if you are well past your college years, head over to the campus and have a look. The historic buildings and being lawns are well worth a look, and walking around will transport you back in time.

The Boston Red Sox are another reason why people love this city so much. If you can, try to snag tickets and go to the famous Fenway Park. Especially if you are a baseball fan, whatever team you cheer for, going to Fenway is an experience that shouldn’t be missed.

Most people go to Boston and do the Freedom Trail, which does give a partial history of the city through 17 stops. However, if you want to try something different that gives you a more complete look at the history, do the Black Heritage Trail. There are multiple tours, and many are free! The best part is that you get to learn about the influence the black community had in Boston during the 19th and 20th century, including moving to abolish slavery, but also much more.

What To Eat

Boston is in the New England region of the States, which is famous for a specific type of cuisine. If you are looking for something sweet, you have to try a Boston Cream Pie, which is from the city for obvious reasons. Try getting it at Mike’s Pastry, which is a goldmine for desserts, especially the city’s namesake pie.

Clam chowder is another New England favorite and is delicious any time of the year, but especially for those cold Boston nights. A good place to try is the Boston Chowda Co, which specializes in the chowder.

Another seafood must try is a lobster roll. Everything about a lobster roll, from the buttery bun, to the meaty lobster, and all the fixings is to die for. Try it out at the famous Neptune Oyster and you will not be disappointed.

Where to Go Out

The city is famous for its historical figures, and Samuel Adams is no exception. The beer company is named after this founding father and the brewery is in Boston itself! Take a tour and see how the beer is made and don’t forget your samples along the way.
