Beach Holiday Essentials: What to Pack

Packing for a holiday is no one’s favorite activity. You might be an under-packer and frequently turn up to your destination only to have to go and buy some extra socks and shampoo. Or, perhaps more challenging, you could be an over-packer and have to make several attempts at closing your suitcase before it securely fastens. Either way, the process is not much fun.

If you know you’re heading to a beach on vacation, you may think you know exactly what to take. However, all too often beach essentials are forgotten or left behind, which risks negatively impacting the whole beach experience. So, before you go, make sure to read this list.

Flip-Flops or Sliders

Feeling sand between the toes always sounds nice when you’re stuck in an office on a grey Monday morning. In reality, though, it can get a little much. Pack some lightweight flip-flops or sliders which will allow you to glide across the sand in comfort and style.

A Good Read

Once you’ve swum in the sea and sunbathed for a while, you’re going to need something to do. This is the perfect time to pull out that novel you’ve been trying to read since Christmas. Take two in case you can’t get into the first one. Reading an excellent book is the real reason to book a beach holiday, anyway.

Scarf or Cover-Up

Not for keeping you warm, but for keeping you covered. If shade is limited, staying out in the sun all day is going to risk ruining the holiday. As well as a hat, wrap a thin scarf over your shoulders to keep off the worst of the rays.

It’s easy to get lost in daydreams when thinking about a holiday, but it pays to make sure the practicalities are managed first. That way, the holiday will be even better than you’ve dreamed of.
