Ranking coffee in NYC is like trying to differentiate between 100 shades of milk. What we’re saying is that there are so many great places to grab a coffee, we wouldn’t dare list them all. We rate these six pretty highly though.
Happy Bones
Fancy escaping the city? Happy Bones is a tiny Italian cafe bursting with local art and an impressive selection of milks.
Hi Collar
Inspired by the Japanese jazz age, you can find a variety of blends at this little gem in the East Village.
Intelligentsia
Intelligentsia is one of the oldest coffee chains in the US. It’s perfect for grabbing a brew before you stroll through the nearby park.
Sweetleaf
This is another coffee chain but it’s growing fast for a reason. You can get a huge variety of drinks including a maple syrup and chicory-infused cold brew and Vietnamese-style iced coffee. There’s a turntable in the cafe too.
Maman
The cups are adorable and the furniture has a lovely rustic feel. You can also try a lavender-infused hot chocolate there which is pretty damn delicious.
Box Kite
It might be small but the coffee is so good that you might struggle to get a seat during peak times.
