With airplane travel still being a bit unsafe due to the pandemic, many people are choosing to plan a road trip this summer. And while road trips seem pretty straightforward, a lot of planning goes into them. Poor planning can result in a really stressful vacation and nobody has time for that. Here are four tips to make sure your next road trip goes smoothly.

Give Your Car a Check

Before your road trip, check your car for fluids, tire pressure, and treads. Also, make sure your windshield wipers are working properly and aren’t leaving streaks.

Plan Your Route

Plan your route including where you can take a break, eat, use the bathroom, and get gas. For long trips, take breaks every two hours.

Pack Smartly

Check your vehicles GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) in the manual to see how much weight your car can take. Don’t overload your car and pack the heavy items low and toward the car’s center with the lighter items on top.

Maximize Mileage

Gas is expensive, so make the most out of it by using cruise control on highways to maintain speeds and not packing too much. Frequent braking and accelerating guzzles gas.
