After closing its doors in 1998, Johannesburg’s Orlando Power Station, commonly known by the name Soweto Towers, went on to become a major tourist attraction. It’s extremely popular with adventurous travelers because you can enjoy many thrilling activities during your visit.
Bungee Jumping
Soweto Towers are best known as Johannesburg’s no. 1 spot for bungee jumping. In addition to offering 100 meter jumps from a suspension bridge, you can also do straightjacket bungee jumps from them without the use of your arms.
Freefall
Soweto Towers also offers SCAD freefalls inside the western tower. If you have experience skydiving and over 100 free falls under your belt, you can also sign up for base jumping.
Amazing Views
Not all visitors to Soweto Towers are looking for an adrenaline rush—many simply come here to admire the view. The western tower features a lift taking you straight to the viewing platform, where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Soweto township.
