Canberra, the Australian capital, doesn’t get as much attention at some bigger cities in this country, but it’s actually a great place to visit with your family. Here are a couple of kid-friendly spots you should check out once you get there.

Questacon

Canberra’s National Science and Technology Centre is home to over 200 interactive exhibits about this subject matter. Its main goal is to inspire kids to become more interested in science and even pursue it long-term.

Get ready to engage your curiosity on our exciting new space adventure – Questacon Mission to Mars! Bookings are now open for our brand new guided tour experience, blasting off from 8 July. During this 90-minute mix of exhibition and theatre, you’ll tour through select galleries to gain the skills and knowledge needed to be among the first humans on Mars. Experience the Marsquake Lab, explore the challenges of living on Mars through interactive experiments and demonstrations, and marvel at our newest exhibit – a 7 metre Mars globe. Before you leave, create your own Mars memory in our green screen selfie booth. As we reopen, Mission to Mars will be the only way to see Questacon. Tours will run at set times each day and each tour has a capacity of 15 people. Pre-bookings are essential. National Dinosaur Museum

If your kids happen to be huge dinosaur lovers, they’ll feel right at home at this fun museum. It features the biggest permanent collection of interactive dinosaurs in Australia and allows visitors to navigate through millions of years of earth’s ancient past.

Both kids and adults can enjoy a visit to National Arboretum Canberra. You can relax at the Village Centre and enjoy stunning views of the city while kids play around at POD Playground, best known for its unusual acorn cubbies
