There are many reasons why you should plan a trip to Spain, and food is definitely one of them. The country is known for delicious food that’s a big part of tradition and celebrations, and here are three dishes you must try.

Tapas

We have to start this list with tapas – appetizers that can be served hot or cold. The word “tapa” comes from the verb “tapar” which means “to cover,” and it dates back to the time before the 19th century when hotels and stores used to offer their guests food samples on a “tapa”.

You can combine multiple tapas into a complete meal and there’s a big variety of them made from all kinds of different ingredients.

Tortilla Española

Spanish tortilla is made of eggs, potatoes, and onions. It’s typically eaten for breakfast but it can also be a kind of tapa. It’s thicker than omelet but fluffy and delicious and very, very popular.

Paella

When in Spain, you have to try Paella. The traditional rice dish comes in three main varieties—Valenciana, Seafood, and Mixta. Valenciana paella originated in Valencia but you can try it all around the country.
