Asturias is an autonomous region of Spain located in the northwest. It’s one of the best areas for natural parks and has many stunning mountain ranges as well as dense forests and wild beaches. It also has a unique culture and cuisine and is a perfect travel destination, particularly for nature and hiking lovers. Here are just three of the incredible hikes on offer.
Lagos de Covadonga
These stunning glacial lakes are found in the Picos de Europa National Park and are the ideal place to plan a hike. There is a lovely circular route which shows you all the wonderful views of the lakes and surrounding mountains.
Llanes Coastal Path
While the mountains of Asturias are one of its greatest attractions, the coast is equally as enjoyable to plan a hike near. This route starts in the lovely coastal town of Llanes and takes you past luscious green fields, impressive cliffs, and perfect beaches.
The Path of the Bear
Asturias and the Cantabrian Mountains are home to some of the only bears left in Western Europe as well as some wolves. This route takes you through the areas where the bears live, although it may be unlikely to see them. However, this hike is gorgeous in its own right, with stunning greenery, rivers, and mountains to enjoy.
