Hawaii is arguably the coolest state in the US since it’s actually an archipelago of islands. But, a lot of people don’t know that the desserts there are out of control. If you’re ever lucky enough to go, you cannot miss out on trying these desserts!

Haupia

This is probably the most common dessert in Hawaii, and you can find it at luaus, restaurants, even on top of regular wedding cakes. Haupia is a coconut-based custard that is usually topped with flaked coconut, but can also be served with pineapple, made into chocolate versions, and beyond!

Malasadas

Though they are actually Portuguese in origin, malasadas made their way to Hawaii through immigration and colonization. This dessert is super scrumptious as it is basically just a donut but made with much richer ingredients like evaporated milk and eggs. The other difference is that there is no hole and they are usually stuffed with sweet custards like haupia, making them even more decadent.

Lilikoi Chiffon Pie

Lilikoi chiffon pie is unlike any other pie you’ll probably taste. It combines amazing, flaky pastry with a sweet and sour passion fruit filling and topped with chantilly cream or something of the like. It’s like, zingy, sweet, and totally encompasses Hawaii in a pie.
