One of the best places in the world to experience and learn about the unique ecosystems of South America is Peru’s UNESCO-recognised Biosphere Reserve and  World Heritage Site, Manú National Park.

Created in 1973, this park dedicates a part of its land to indigenous Amazonian communities, who choose to live in isolation from locals and visitors.

Manú National Park offers visitors a few different tours including custom tours for those who have a specific visit in mind. Fun activities offered in the tours are rafting, zip-lining, visiting the local Howler Monkeys territories, and encountering some of the forests other incredible fauna such as giant otters, brown-throated sloths, and maybe meet a puma!

The park includes a few lodges as a form of accommodation, which guarantees waking up every morning to spectacular views of mountains, lakes, and other jungle scenes. Around the lodges are a few lookouts where different animals can be viewed without the need to trek very far, and the staff will guide you through the area and share their vast knowledge of the ecological preservation done at the Biosphere Reserve.

The park is open all year round, but it’s recommended to visit from April to November during the dry season.
