Many people head to Cape Town for a safari without realizing that you can actually see a whole lot of wildlife from walking around town. Here are some of the wild and wonderful creatures you can catch on your afternoon walk.

Baboons

Baboons are common in Cape Town and are unique and intelligent creatures. They can be vicious though, so it is best to keep your distance if you can.

African penguins

African penguins can be found along the coastlines of South Africa. There is a colony living at Boulders Beach close to Cape Town and you’re pretty much guaranteed to see them if you head there.

Seals

Seals can be founded at almost all of Cape Town’s harbors. They are very playful and are friendly to visitors who jump in for a swim.

Otters

Otters can also be found on Cape Town’s coastline. They are a little shy and can be hard to spot, but if you head out early enough, you will see them playing on the beach.

Klipspringer

Klipspringers are a very sweet type of antelope. They can jump incredibly high and are one of the loveliest creatures you can find in Cape Town.
