Traveling overseas for the first time is super exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. A lot of thought and planning goes into vacationing internationally. From researching and budgeting to making sure you have all of the necessary documents, there are many things you have to plan for before you even get on the plane. Here are three things to keep in mind when planning your first international trip.

Get Your Documents Ready

Before you even book your ticket, make sure your passport is in date. Many countries require at least six months before the expiry date and a couple of empty pages for passport stamps. You’ll also need travel insurance and depending on how long you’re staying in a country, you may need a visa. Make sure you also have any information regarding accommodations, transport, activities, and your boarding pass. Also, many countries are requiring proof of a negative corona test.

Research

The key to a successful trip lies in planning ahead. Make a general itinerary and be sure to book accommodations for at least the first few nights with an idea of where you’ll stay next. Also, get familiar with the transport situation and download any apps that will help things run smoother.

Stick to a Budget

The last thing you want to deal with is running out of money while you’re on vacation. To avoid this, figure out what you can spend each day and stick to it. Look for cheaper hotel rooms, affordable places to eat, and group tours.
