Travel to Lake Como to Experience the History of Italian Cuisine

You can go just about anywhere in Italy and find the most amazing food all around you. But if you’re a history buff as much as you are a foodie, head to Lake Como and eat at the restaurant Mistral located inside the hotel Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni, for the meal and history lesson of your life.

Chef Ettore Bocchia has curated a meal that showcases the history of Italian cuisine over the last 150 years. With all of the archival research and a multiple-course feast awaiting you, this is a meal worth traveling for.

Celebrating the anniversary of the restaurant, which was founded 150 years ago, this meal takes inspiration from multiple decades, serving a variety of dishes and flavors.

For example, you’ll be eating eel filled with a duck foie gras inspired by the wealthy aristocrats of the 1890s, fried frog legs and escargot inspired by the food eaten during the time of the Second World War, and a pumpkin broth with white truffle meringue, which represents the 2000s and the introduction of the molecular gastronomy in Italy.

This meal has been specially curated by Chef Bocchia, and at $250 a person, this meal is the one to splurge on. It becomes available April 1, 2023, but reservations are open now, so don’t miss out!
