When you think about Canadian cities and provinces to visit, world-famous tourist destinations like Montreal, Toronto, and British Columbia are probably what come to mind. However, Canada’s interior is the home of a province called Alberta that has plenty to offer itself! Be sure not to miss these three Alberta cities on your next trip to the Great White North.
Calgary
A short drive away from the Canadian Rockies, Calgary is a modern, bustling city full of towering skyscrapers, Western culture, and world-class attractions. Whether you want to check out the city’s zoo, visit a rodeo, or see a historical village that tells the story of Canadian history, this city has it all.
Edmonton
A few hours north of Alberta is Edmonton, a city scenically located on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. Known as the “Festival City,” you’ll find a number of large-scale musical and cultural events here in summer. If you come in winter, don’t worry, as there are plenty of hockey games and world-class museums to see too.
Banff
If you want to visit Banff National Park, one of Canada’s natural gems, Banff is the city where you can base your visit and explore the outdoors. A charming downtown area featuring hotels and restaurants make it a great base if you want to explore the mountains.
