If you love dolphins, then you probably made the decision a while ago to skip swimming with them in enclosed spaces at Sea World. Fortunately, you don’t have to give up your dream of swimming with the beautiful creatures. There are plenty of places in the wild where it is perfectly safe to swim and snorkel with them.

Central America

Dolphins are abundant in Central America. Along the coasts of Belize and Costa Rica, you will likely find pods of the mammals as the warm water is ideal for them. If you’re not sure where to find them, there are plenty of dolphin tours available for tourists.

The Red Sea (Egypt)

A pod of spinner dolphins hang out at the coral reefs in Egypt’s Red Sea. Boats are not allowed to enter but snorkelers can. There are also sea turtles to admire while you’re there.

Hawaii

Is paradise really paradise without dolphins? The islands are surrounded by dolphin infested waters so you can see the creatures in their natural habitat.

Koombana Bay (Western Australia)

Koombana Bay is home to hundreds of bottlenose dolphins. Environmental scientists lead tours so you can view them close-up and swim with them.

Fiji

The best time to see the dolphins in Fiji is between May and October. They are in abundance during this time and you can join research teams to photograph the creatures and learn more about them.
