During the Titanic's excavation, researchers unearthed many jewels and trinkets - but this one stood out due to its unintentionally ironic text. Someone aboard the ship had been the owner of a lucky charm necklace reading "This be your lucky star." Needless to say, it probably wasn't.

The Titanic carried a compliment of 20 lifeboats, each seating a maximum of 68 people - enough for only 1,360 people out of the 2229 passengers and crew on board at full capacity - but many of the lifeboats were not completely filled, and most did not row back after clearing the sinking ship, for fear of being pulled underwater by the suction created by the Titanic's mass. Only around 30% of the people on board survived - but due to the "women and children first" policy, approx. 5%0 of the boat's children and %75 of the women made it. Out of the men, only around 20% managed to survive. Most of the survivors were second and first-class passengers, as these classes had easier access to the boat deck. Out of 2229, a total of 713 people survived the disaster.
