Flight attendants will always go above and beyond in order to accommodate passengers and make their flight more enjoyable. This includes providing special perks many travelers don’t even realize are possible.

Content creator Sandra Jeenie Kwon, who used to work as a flight attendant for several airlines, recently decided to share some of these perks with travelers in a viral video shared on TikTok.

In the clip, which got 4.6 million views, Kwon disclosed seven things that people usually don’t know they can ask on a flight. And some of them are quite surprising.

According to Kwon, passengers who feel that their seatbelt is too tight can ask for an extender that will provide a better fit. This way you can feel both safe and comfortable. Additionally, all planes have a first aid kit so don’t hesitate to ask for help if you are feeling nauseous, have a headache, or accidentally cut yourself.

When it comes to drinks and food, Kwon says there is nothing wrong with asking for more. Instead of having a drink in the cup during drink service, you can ask for a whole can. Also, if you had a meal and are still feeling hungry, you can ask for a second meal and will be given one. The airlines carry extra and usually throw them away if not used.

Finally, the flight attendants always look out for plane enthusiasts. You can take a photo in the cockpit after the flight is done and get a pin or a trading card as a souvenir. Just remember to ask.

Most travelers believe that getting the best seat on the plane without having to pay for it is impossible. But there is one TikTok travel hack that claims otherwise.

Dubbed “check-in chicken,” the hack looks to exploit the automatic seat assignment used by airlines. According to TikTok user @cheapholidayexpert, who demonstrated the hack in a recent viral video, the idea is to wait as much as possible before checking in for your flight.

Airlines always look to fill out the “bad” seats, including those in the back and middle of the plane, when automatically assigning seats to passengers. But once there are no more of these seats left, they have to start assigning better seats.

The hack worked perfectly for @cheapholidayexpert, who managed to score extra legroom seats with no extra charge by waiting to check in 5.5 hours before the flight.

@cheapholidayexpert

Was this too last minute?! ? ? Send this to someone who loves to leave checking in a little too late… ? ? WHAT IS CHECK IN CHICKEN? ? Check in Chicken is when you leave your online check in for Wizz Air and Ryanair late in the hope that you get allocated a better seat. ? WHY DO YOU GET A BETTER SEAT IF YOU L EAVE CHECK IN LATE? ? Wizz Air and Ryanair both do three things: 1. They charge for seats 2. They actively split up people travelling together 3. They often place people in ‘bad seats’ – i.e. middle seats and those away from the exits All of this means that as time ticks on, often the seats that are left available are the ‘good seats’ – i.e. upfront and extra legroom ? DOES IT ACTUALLY WORK? ? Yep! I actually can’t remember the last time I didn’t get an extra legroom seat because of doing this!! ⚠ BUT WHAT’S THE RISK? ⚠ The small risk – as you have seen in this video – is that you leave check in too late and there’s no seats left. This is because airlines can overbook planes due to the chance that a small percentage of passengers won’t show up for the flight. Now, technically the airline shouldn’t automatically boot off those that were last to check in – they’re supposed to ask if anyone is willing to give up their seat first (they get another flight plus compensation so some may well go for it) but often they just stick it on those who have left check in chicken a little too late… ? HOW BIG IS THE RISK?! ? Wizz Air and Ryanair both have a fairly high average load factor – around 94% – and so planes are often close to full. However, it is true that some passengers don’t show up and there are still plenty of flights that aren’t completely full. Overall, they wouldn’t overbook if they were losing money on the situation – which they would be if it happened often since they’d need to rebook your flight, put you up in accommodation if needed and give you compensation. ?‍♀ MY TOP TIP ?‍♀ Don’t leave Check in Chicken until the last moment – you need to be checking the seating plan throughout the day and check in when only good seats are left! ? LET ME KNOW… Would you do this?! And has anyone ever been on an overbooked plane?! #wizzair #checkin #overbookedflight

♬ original sound – Cheap Holiday Expert

While it is definitely worth trying out this hack, we have to warn you that it comes with its fair share of risks. First of all, the hack will only work with flights that are properly packed. Otherwise, if there is any seat in the back or middle of the plane left, you will get it.

On top of that, there is a risk that all the seats will vanish if you wait for too long. The airlines frequently overbook flights, hoping not all passengers will show up. If they do, those who don’t check in on time will miss out and have to take another flight.

As more of us transition to Bluetooth headphones for their convenience and superior sound quality, the outdated wired headphone jacks on airplanes can be a frustrating limitation. When you’re ready to dive into a movie on that tiny seatback screen, the last thing you want is to wrestle with flimsy airline headphones or, worse, realize you forgot to pack a wired pair and need to buy them onboard. Luckily, there’s a straightforward solution: a Bluetooth audio transmitter. Here’s how you can use your modern headphones to enjoy in-flight entertainment seamlessly.

Choosing the Right Bluetooth Transmitter

A Bluetooth transmitter is a small device that connects to any headphone jack and transmits the audio wirelessly to your Bluetooth headphones. Most modern airplanes are equipped with a single-prong, 3.5 mm audio jack, although some older models might still feature the outdated two-prong plug. It’s essential to choose a transmitter that is compatible with both types of jacks for maximum versatility.

Recommended Transmitters

If you’re not sure where to start, check out Eppfun Bluetooth Wireless Transmitter, Twelve South AirFly Pro, or 1 Mii Bluetooth Audio Transmitter. Some models will work better with Apple devices while others might be more versatile for different inflight entertainment systems. You can make the choice based on your needs.

As any frequent traveler would know, hotels can be pretty costly if you don’t book them at the right time. Naturally, this can make last-minute travel and trips during peak season quite costly. Still, this doesn’t have to be the case. With Travelpass, you can find the best deals for your trip at huge discounts.

What is Travelpass?

Travelpass is a trip-booking website that sources hotel deals from travel agencies and other distributors that you can easily evaluate and compare. As a result of this aggregator model, Travelpas offers you accommodation in over 70,000 hotels across Canada and the United States.

How Travelpass works

Despite being connected with travel agents and the like, this website does not require you to make contact with representatives as is the case with travel agents. You can organize everything through the website from the comfort of your own home. Still, if you prefer receiving some assistance and receiving some human interaction, you’ll be able to contact Travelpass’s customer service agents.

Although Travelpass currently only offers hotel deals, the website has big plans, eventually hoping to include an itinerary planner, a travel management app, and an AI tool to recommend tips for your travel itinerary.

The list of viral hacks you can use to avoid paying extra baggage fees is pretty much endless, and layering clothes is among the most popular. If you’re considering wearing extra layers of clothing to make extra room in your luggage, here are a few things worth taking into consideration.

Zero Comfort

Going through airport security and enduring long flights isn’t exactly a cozy experience, and your comfort will take an even bigger hit if you decide to wear extra layers of clothing. You might dodge pricy baggage fees, but even the simplest activities such as sitting down and walking will feel like a nightmare in this state.

Heavy Weight

Layering clothing is a hack worth trying if you’re attempting to free up room in your suitcase, but it’s not as effective if your goal is to avoid weight limits. Clothes are generally lightweight, so try to leave some of the heavier items at home or stash them inside your pockets to decrease the weight of your suitcase or bag.

Dress Code Concerns

This hack is so popular with budget-friendly travelers that many airlines have dress code rules against it these days. Your outfit could raise some eyebrows and be considered as inappropriate if it’s too bulky, so try to wear a reasonable number of layers so you wouldn’t be asked to remove them.

@feeling.lucki

And to add to this they cancelled the flight we had before this one

Leaving an airport after returning from a trip can often be a stressful experience. The arrivals sections of airport terminals are usually crowded with cars and cabs, making it a challenge to get to your ride and leave fast enough. Luckily, there is a simple solution for this.

TikTok user @onegirlwandering recently shared a genius hack that will help you leave the airport faster than usual. She calls it her “airport secret” and claims it works most of the time.

According to the TikToker, you should tell your ride to pick you up at the departures section instead of the arrivals section.

“Come to the departures level if the arrival level is completely slammed with cars because then the person who’s picking you up can get up here with no issues, and they don’t have to wait in line,” @onegirlwandering shared in her now-viral video that got 1.1 million views since being published in July.

@onegirlwandering

I may look like crud after a 20+ hour travel day but at least I don’t have to wait a moment longer to get home #traveltiktok #traveltip #airportlife

♬ original sound – Lindsay | Solo Travel

When you think about it, the hack actually makes a lot of sense. The departures section is usually a lot less crowded since it is rare for large groups of travelers to arrive at the same time for a flight. On the other hand, the arrivals section gets packed really quickly since all travelers who just landed want to leave the airport at the same time.

While boarding a flight to a fascinating holiday destination is exciting nonetheless, flying business class certainly comes with an additional sense of luxury and intrigue. If you remain alert when your flight is coming up, you may just be able to get yourself a business-class ticket without the high price tag. Here are some hacks to help you get a last-minute business class upgrade.

Use Your Elite Airline Status

If you use an airline credit card or belong to a frequent flyer program, then make sure to earn miles wherever and whenever you can. Many carriers such as American Airlines and Alaska Airlines offer complimentary upgrades to elite passengers.

Buy A Last-Minute Upgrade

Some airlines offer last-minute upgrade deals just hours before the flight takes off. Often, these deals allow you to use flight points so you can save a significant sum if there are business class seats available until that late hour.

Request an Upgrade at the Check-In Counter

If you arrive at the airport early, ask at the check-in counter if there is any chance for a business class upgrade. While not likely, there are some occasions on which airline staff are happy to provide an upgrade due to the plane being relatively empty.

If you’ve ever attempted to take a nap at the airport during a layover, you’ll know that level 3 advanced math is probably easier to do. Falling asleep can be tricky at the best of times if you battle insomnia or the like, but doing so while traveling is especially difficult.

The discovery of white noise has been a game-changer for many people who struggle to sleep. There is a spectrum of audible sounds and white noise contains all frequencies. Similar to the sound of static on an untuned radio or television, white noise can drown out disturbing noises in your environment which threaten to wake you up.

Those who rely on white noise to catch some Z’s usually employ a white noise machine, but those are not always easy to lug around when traveling. Thankfully, your iPhone has an easy hack.

If you have an iPhone 6S or newer, and are running iOS 15 or above, you simply need to go to Settings, Accessibility, Accessibility Shortcut, and then select Background Sounds. This will enable you to triple-click the side button or home button to play white noise.

Try it next time you fancy taking a nap on an airplane.

Travel has so many rewards… which is why we all put up with the hassle and expense of traveling in order to do it. But just because travel can be frustrating and difficult sometimes doesn’t mean it always has to be. These travel hacks should help make it go a bit smoother.

Never Delete or Throw Out Your Boarding Pass

Whether you keep your boarding pass handy as a printed document or on your phone, make sure that you don’t get rid of it until after your trip. You never know when you’ll be asked for it and you don’t want to end up in a pickle because you threw it out too soon.

Travel Internationally on National Holidays

In order to save money on plane tickets and avoid huge crowds at the airport or on your plane, try traveling on local holidays such as independence days or occasions like Thanksgiving. Most people will be staying at home celebrating with their families, so the airports should be much more open than usual.

Don’t Overschedule

In order to get the most out of their trip, many people try to schedule every second of every day they’re abroad. But the most exciting things happen when you’re just wandering around aimlessly. So go ahead and give yourself some free time just to walk around and mosey.

@onegirlwandering

I may look like crud after a 20+ hour travel day but at least I don’t have to wait a moment longer to get home #traveltiktok #traveltip #airportlife
