While boarding a flight to a fascinating holiday destination is exciting nonetheless, flying business class certainly comes with an additional sense of luxury and intrigue. If you remain alert when your flight is coming up, you may just be able to get yourself a business-class ticket without the high price tag. Here are some hacks to help you get a last-minute business class upgrade.

Use Your Elite Airline Status

If you use an airline credit card or belong to a frequent flyer program, then make sure to earn miles wherever and whenever you can. Many carriers such as American Airlines and Alaska Airlines offer complimentary upgrades to elite passengers.

Buy A Last-Minute Upgrade

Some airlines offer last-minute upgrade deals just hours before the flight takes off. Often, these deals allow you to use flight points so you can save a significant sum if there are business class seats available until that late hour.

Request an Upgrade at the Check-In Counter

If you arrive at the airport early, ask at the check-in counter if there is any chance for a business class upgrade. While not likely, there are some occasions on which airline staff are happy to provide an upgrade due to the plane being relatively empty.

Business-class travel sure does make going by plane a lot easier to handle, doesnโ€™t it? Paying an extra price can be a tough pill to swallow, but there are advantages that it affords you, such as a larger, more comfortable seat and better in-flight service. These are the things that most of us think about when considering business class travel, but there are a host of other advantages that you might not think about. Here they are!

Lounge Access

If you are going to have a layover during your travels, we cannot state how nice it is to have lounge access inside the airports you will be visiting. This will allow you to relax in a non-crowded environment, snack on good food, and catch up on your rest between flights and is included with a business class ticket.

Extra Luggage

Most business class tickets also include the option to take additional, extra luggage with you to your final destination. This can be a great advantage if you are going to your destination for an extended amount of time, allowing you to take more things with you.

Change Flexibility

Another totally underrated part of buying a business class ticket is that the companies which sell them generally allow you to change flights and dates if necessary with minimal or no charge. If your travel plans are flexible, this is a big thing to consider!

One of the most thrilling experiences that any traveler can have is using business class or first class when flying to a destination.

For those of us who havenโ€™t had the luxury of flying in an upgraded cabin, the distinction between these two celebrated cabin grades can be hard to gauge. So, what makes them different? Letโ€™s take a look.

First Class

In short, flying first class is a little bit more expensive and nicer than business class. Why? Typically, in first class, your seat will lay flat in order to serve as a bed, and oftentimes your space will be able to be converted into a private โ€œapartment-likeโ€ setting so that you arenโ€™t seen or disturbed by other passengers. Food is typically of world-class quality, with menus designed by world-renowned chefs being common. This is the cream of the crop of the flying experience and usually is only offered on long (6+ hour) flights.

While you can only include one partner airline on a one-way award, this is still quite useful.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐€๐ฅ๐š๐ฌ๐ค๐š ๐Œ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ โ€œ๐“๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐คโ€โญโฃโฃ โฃโฃ I put โ€œtrickโ€ in quotations since this isnโ€™t really a trick but rather a great way to use a stopover on a one-way ticket. Itโ€™s also forgotten way too often.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ Itโ€™s as simple as this.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ Letโ€™s say you use 50,000 Alaska miles to book a biz class award ticket to Los Angeles from Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ Rather than stopping there, take advantage of the stopover option. If you live somewhere else, take a few days to visit LA.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ If you live in LA – and hereโ€™s the real โ€œtrickโ€ – then stopover in your hometown for a few months before flying somewhere else in the U.S. for a weekend. Maybe a trip to NYC or Chicago.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ Just because you live in LA, doesnโ€™t mean your destination has to be LA. It can easily be included as your stopover city when you book the flight home from Hong Kong.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ So, with 50,000 Alaska miles, you can fly home from Asia, go back to work, then start another trip all on one award ticket.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ ๐…๐ข๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐“๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌโฃโฃ โฃโฃ Personally, I think other airlines should provide these opportunities. Business Class

Flying business class is really nice too and is a common alternative to economy class on medium-range and long-range flights. Here, your seat will have extra legroom and youโ€™ll be able to stretch out during the flight. These days, some business class seats lie flat as well and serve as beds. The meals are nice, even restaurant-quality, and you will be waited upon very well by the flight staff.
