You usually have to step outside the big city to discover the natural beauty of a new country—but not in Australia. Its botanic gardens are top of the line, and these three will take your breath away.

The Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney

Australia’s oldest botanic garden is the perfect place to visit when you want to take a break from the bustle of a big city, get lost, and connect with nature. It features so many beautiful spaces and walks that you’ll be discovering new wonders of nature at every turn.

Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, Brisbane

Located at the foot of Brisbane’s tallest mountain Mount Coot-tha, this botanic garden is one of Australia’s most picture-perfect spots. The tropical display dome is its no. 1 attraction, but the Japanese garden, bonsai house, and other more secluded corners are equally breathtaking.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne

This natural wonder in Melbourne extends across 38 hectares, and it’s one of the most impressive botanic gardens you’ll ever come across. With 8,500 different plant species scattered around it, the Royal Botanic Gardens are a true heaven for nature lovers, and its location on the slopes of the Yarra River will make the whole experience even more memorable.

Are you always on the hunt for stunning lookouts in each city you visit because they allow you to experience each new place in its full glory? If your answer is yes and you’re planning to visit Brisbane at least once in a lifetime, make sure to put Mount Coot-tha on your bucket list.

Safely tucked away 287 meters above sea level, this mountain is home to the highest peak in urban Brisbane and it’s the place to be if you want to see this city from up high. Most people visiting this attraction are here for One-Tree-Hill, a heritage-listed lookout that offers the best views in all of Brisbane.

This lookout is open to the public without a fee, and you can visit it at any time. Most people arrive at Mount Coot-tha right before sunset, when the views at Brisbane and its surrounding area look the most spectacular, but this is not the only reason why it’s worth the visit.

Mount Coot-tha is a perfect spot for nature lovers because there are many walking and biking trails you can explore during your visit. There are also several fancy cafés and restaurants on its grounds, and you shouldn’t miss the truly breathtaking Brisbane Botanic Gardens, located on the foothills of the mountain.
