If you’re looking to escape to the beautiful nature, Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska may be just the destination you’re looking for. The wonderful national park is located at the foot of Mount Seward. Spanning across over 600,000 acres, it’s home to some of the most amazing nature you will ever see.

Right now, due to the Covid-19 crisis, the park is partially open to prevent visitors from forming crowds in particular spaces. Despite this, it’s a great idea to plan a trip there if you can because it will take your mind off of the real-world problems for a few days and relax and recharge.

What can you see in the park? Over 60% of its territory is covered in ice. The tidewater glaciers form fjords and valleys that are unique and mesmerizing. This is the only place where you can see massive icebergs floating in the fjords and you’ll remember the sight forever.

The rest of the park features impressive wildlife. You can see bears, mountain goats, coyotes, beavers, sea otters, porpoises, sea lion whales, and almost 200 species of birds, among other living creatures. The summertime is perfect for visiting because of the calm seas and long days.

The Last Frontier of the United States, the dramatically beautiful state of Alaska, is a true paradise for nature lovers. Featuring snow-capped mountains, frozen tundra, breathtaking coastlines, and rushing rivers, those who love the outdoors will truly feel at home here.

Do you love fishing? If so, Alaska should be near the top of your list for destinations as it features some of the best freshwater and saltwater fishing that the United States has to offer. Here are three great destinations to keep in mind when planning a trip.

Kenai River

The Kenai River is technically a glacial stream from which cold, nutrient-rich water flows to the Gulf of Alaska. Near the discharge of the river, south of the state’s biggest city of Anchorage, you’ll find some of the best salmon fishing in the world.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBXHhIKnFIP/

Bristol Bay

Are you looking to fish for some of the biggest King Salmon on Earth, but prefer to do so in the open environment of saltwater? Bristol Bay, located between Alaska’s mainland and the Aleutian Islands, brims with salmon along with other fish and is a great place for a deep-sea fishing boat trip.

Homer

Located south of the Kenai River, Homer is a great town to keep in mind when considering Alaskan fishing destinations. Known as the “Halibut Fishing Capital of the World,” the ocean off the shores of Homer is home to this species as well as salmon and rockfish.

Most people exploring Alaska start their adventure in Anchorage. This city is home to many natural wonders – including several serine lakes where you can go to relax and unwind.

Mirror Lake

If you’re in the mood for a short trip outside of the city, Mirror Lake should be on top of your bucket list. It also doesn’t hurt its case that it’s located only a couple of minutes away from Thunder Bird Falls.

Eklutna Lake

Eklutna Lake takes about an hour to reach by car, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s a popular spot with kayakers and hikers, but you can also just go there to unwind and enjoy nature.

Jewel Lake

If you want to enjoy some family activities without going too far, Jewel Lake is your best option. In addition to offering a beach and separate fishing and swimming areas, you can also play softball, volleyball, or just have a picnic inside the Jewel Lake Park.

The festive atmosphere here lasts longer than anywhere else because everyone decorates windows and trees with lights. There are annual festivals and other events held during winter in order to make the season more fun and warm.

Snow Sports

Snow is common in Alaska, so snow sports are very popular. You can try cross-country skiing in Kincaid Park or attend big ski events like Tour of Anchorage.

Fun for Families

People of all ages can have fun in Anchorage. Whether you choose to go ice-skating on frozen Westchester Lagoon, play hockey, or simply enjoy spending time together someplace warm over your favorite hot beverage, the city has everything you need.
