Many imposing skyscrapers are currently being built in Adelaide, and they’re set to change the city’s skyline in the upcoming years. Before that moment comes, there are still many beautiful buildings in Adelaide worth the appreciation—including these three.

St Peter’s Cathedral

Adelaide is a lesser-known city in South Australia, but deserves just as much recognition as the other big cities! Adelaide has a ton of cultural festivals and sites to enjoy, and, like the rest of the country, has some breathtakingly beautiful scenery. So if you want to do something a little different than just Sydney or Melbourne, check out Adelaide!

What to Do

Victoria Square is an important place to visit in Adelaide for many reasons. Though it’s clearly named after the English Queen Victoria, the square was around much before English settlers came to Australia. The indigenous people of Australia used it as a meeting for centuries, and they named it Tarntanyangga, which is the name still used by some today.

The South Australian Museum is something you’re going to want to see because it has the largest collection of indigenous cultural artifacts of anywhere in Australia. The building itself is so beautiful and was built in the mid 19th century, and with the admission being free, there’s no reason not to check it out.

The Adelaide Central Market is another must-see in the city because it is visited by more than 8 million people every year, making it the most popular attraction in the city! The market was built in 1869 and has more than 80 stalls within the market. Not only is it a mecca for foodies, but there are usually other things going on there like events, live music, and more!

The Adelaide Himeji Garden is a stunning Japenese garden very close to the center of the city. The garden is designed very authentically and is a great escape if you need a break from the normal tourist attractions.

If you’re someone who can’t miss out on a beach day if it’s close enough, then you’re going to love Adelaide. Glenelg Beach is an easy tram ride away from central Adelaide, and won’t take you more than 30 minutes to get to it. Not only does Glenelg Beach have stunning sand and beautiful water, but there’s plenty of things to do in the area as well like shop in one of the many cute boutiques.

Even if you’re someone who doesn’t care for sports, it’s worth going to the Adelaide Oval, a massive new stadium. You can go to the roof and see some incredible views of the city, which is always a great activity. And, if you do love sports, you can check out a match there or even the museum that tells about the history of Australian sports.

Adelaide has a wonderful botanic garden that is certainly worth a visit because there’s so much more than just gardens. The grounds are meticulously kept and such a lovely site, but you can see them from many different perspectives!

Within the gardens, there is a gorgeous restaurant called the Botanic Gardens Restaurant, which boasts a seasonal menu that utilizes local products and traditional dishes modernized. And, how often do you get to eat inside a botanical garden?

You’re probably already sick of hearing about all the damage we as a species are creating on our planet, but not everything is doomed just yet. There are amazing places all around the world that offer plenty of clean air and they are perfect vacation spots, especially if you live in a big city and desperately need a break from all the pollution.

Honolulu, Hawaii

Hawaii and its capital Honolulu are considered to be one of the places with the cleanest air in the U.S. and in the world. It’s mostly because of the winds that take all the dirt particles to the sea. Also, Hawaii is on the list of states with the least heart attacks per year and we think it could be somehow connected to their clean air.

Zurich, Switzerland

Despite being a big city, Zurich is a very clean city where many people use bikes for transport and take public transport instead of cars whenever possible. They have developed a great garbage disposing system that also helps.

Adelaide, Australia

Adelaide is the city that’s often on the lists of the cleanest places in the world, in addition to being one of the best places to live.

Adelaide is one of the cities everyone should visit while in Australia, but the real magic starts once you take a road trip out of town. Here’s a couple of options to take into consideration when planning a day-trip from the capital of South Australia.

Barossa Valley

Wine lovers will have plenty of places to explore while in Adelaide, but none of them compares to Barossa Valley. Known as Australia’s most famous wine region, Barossa is the perfect place to try delicious new flavors – and you have around 200 wineries to chose from!

Fleurieu Peninsula

If you’re in the mood for an amazing road trip, a ride down the coast to the Fleurieu Peninsula is a must. This journey will provide you with everything your heart desires, from beautiful beaches and charming coastal towns to a bunch of great wineries in McLaren Vale.

Kangaroo Island
