Going on a road trip is fun, but bringing your best friend with you is even better! However, when you do travel with four-legged friends, it does require a lot more planning, but with this guide, you’ll be set!

Comfort

It’s really important that your dog is comfortable during the trip, even if it’s not for very long. Try your best to make room for him or her in the car so they don’t feel too cramped and act out. Also, if your dog has special toys or stuffed animals, make sure you bring them. Being in the car is totally out of their comfort zone so it’s important to make them feel safe.

Breaks

Of course, your dog will need to talk a bathroom break every so often during the trip. But, if you can, try to plan the bathroom breaks around human breaks as well. Use it to get some snacks or a meal, or to stop and see something like a special site or museum along the way to your final destination! Also, research restaurants that will let you bring your dog in or onto the patio if it’s a nice day so you can all bond!
