Packing formalwear is always a challenge. These pieces of clothing usually require more care because they are prone to creasing and wrinkling, and you might not have the opportunity to get to an iron before you need to use them.

If you need to pack formalwear for your next trip and want to ensure it remains pristine, follow these tips.

Use Garment Bag or Plastic Dry-Cleaning Bag

Getting a garment bag is a great idea if you often travel with formalwear. The garment bag will protect suits and dresses from creasing and wrinkling even if you fold them into a suitcase. If it is a one-time opportunity, consider using a plastic dry-cleaning bag. They will produce a similar effect to garment bags if you put some effort into proper folding.

Use Tissue Paper

Tissue paper is an efficient and cost-free way to stop your formalwear from developing creases and wrinkles. Simply layer the tissue paper onto the clothes when you fold them and then create layers when packing the clothes on top of each other. The method will prevent friction between the fabric and prevent wrinkling and creasing.

Use Layering Method

When packing your suitcase, place the formalwear on top. This way, they won’t be crushed by other items and clothes. If your entire luggage consists of formalwear, then place heavier clothing items on the bottom and lighter ones on top for the same purpose.

Invest in a Travel Steamer

Finally, if you don’t want to risk it, you can always invest in a travel steamer. Nowadays, travel steamers are compact and don’t take up much space. They are also easy to use, and you can fix the creasing and wrinkles in no time.
