As many travelers know, airlines and airport security are strict when it comes to monitoring passengers’ baggage and ensuring that they follow all travel guidelines. Given the many security concerns that exist the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) makes it their duty to ensure that security protocols are standardized and enforced. Still, some packing guidelines prove confusing to travelers. Here are some of the most common items that travelers ask the TSA about, as well as whether or not you can travel with them.

Razors

While razors are essential for keeping clean-shaven, the fact that they consist of a blade does pose a security risk. According to the TSA, however, some razors are permitted while others are not. Electric razors generally are allowed in carry-on bags, however, traditional blades generally must go into your checked baggage.

Deodorant

Given that deodorant can come in many forms, including spray, roll-on, and gel, some travellers are unsure if it is permitted because of liquid restrictions. Ultimately, the TSA explained that all deodorants are treated like liquids, so make sure that each bottle you bring in your carry-on bag meet liquid requirements. Otherwise, pack them in your checked bags.

Makeup

Solid and powder makeup don’t face any restrictions. Liquid makeup, however, follows the same guidelines as other liquids, so make sure they’re packed in bottles that meet liquid requirements.
