The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has altered people’s travel plans all around the world, making it harder and harder for travelers to go far away from their homes due to travel restrictions and fear about long journeys.

The current situation isn’t prohibitive to travel, however, as one of the recent trends in travel has proven.

Micro trips are a new favorite for people all around the world who are looking to escape, but not go too far away from home. The idea of this sort of travel is to stay within a short radius of home but to check out cities, towns, and natural landscapes that you wouldn’t otherwise visit on a regular basis.

In a one-week micro trip, for example, a person from a large city might visit a handful of small towns within a two-hour radius of their home and also make time to check out local or national parks that allow for a complete disconnect from urban life and stresses.

This concept has been popular for a while now, but has really taken off in the aftermath of COVID-19, as people are looking for safe and relatively inexpensive travel options.

Are you considering a micro trip this summer?
