On the list of underrated countries, Luxembourg has to be near the top. Often overlooked in favor of its neighbors, France; Belgium; and Germany, the tiny European country is definitely worth a visit.

Transportation

Considering that Luxembourg is the wealthiest country in the world with a GDP per capita of $141,590, you’d expect the price of things to be off the charts. And yet, this little nation boasts totally free public transportation. Since 2020, it costs nothing to hop on a bus; train; or tram, so explore to your heart’s content.

Castles

Think of Luxembourg as a real-life Disney film. There are more than 70 castles in the country, with some dating back 1,000 years. Be sure to include the Castle of Beaufort, the Castle of Vianden, and the Castle of Bourscheid on your list.

Culinary Scene

There is a brimming culinary scene in Luxembourg. Meat and potatoes form the majority of the diet, but the country is also home to 9 Michelin-starred restaurants and 8 Bib Gourmand eateries. The national dish is Judd mat Gaardebounen which consists of pork that has been soaked overnight and then boiled with vegetables and spices.
