Kimberly Cammerata’s Paintings Capture the Beauty of Italy

Let’s face it: it might take a while until all traveling restrictions are removed and we can travel freely to places like Italy. But as tourism slowly restarts and we test the waters, we hope to inspire your next vacation with the aid of local artists.

Kimberly Cammerata has dedicated the majority of her artistic career to capturing the beauty of Italy, with its brilliant landscapes, sunny days, ancient towns, and warm welcomes. As a watercolor artist, her work revolves around color and light, and the way in which light can effect our perception of color.

“Many of my clients have been to Italy and they tell me that I capture the sparkle and the detail of what it’s like to be there,” said the Sicilian painter in a piece published on Artnote. “This makes me so happy because it is exactly what I set out to do! If you love Italy but haven’t been there, then my work is a chance to experience a little bit of that feeling from your home.”

Cammerata’s paintings combine the looseness of watercolor with her attention to detail. Inspired by her travels across Italy, Cammerata studies her whereabouts before committing herself to each piece. “I love to immerse myself in the nuances that make a place unique,” she writes. “To me, the details bring the painting to life and make it identifiable as a specific place. This is important, because I actually travel to each location, observe and study it to accurately portray its essence. I have developed watercolor techniques that are all my own to create this level of precision.”

While we await patiently for a return to normalcy, Cammerata’s paintings act as a kind reminder about what can be gained from traveling (traveling via Instagram, that is).
