January may be over, but there are still 11 months to fill with travel—and food. Culinary experiences are a major part of travel, with it even dictating the destination in some cases.

TripAdvisor analyzed millions of reviews from the past year in order to determine the hot spots for 2023. For those who like to plan their trips around the food on offer, they’re in luck!

Pizza and pasta appeared to be a massive draw as Rome was voted the top culinary destination. Numerous Michelin-starred restaurants can be found in the Italian capital, but don’t skip the charming trattorias or quaint gelato bars. Add Pinsitaly Trevi to your list, as well as Bufalero.

Europe dominated when it came to food destinations, although Asia also made an appearance. Rome was followed by the Greek island of Crete in second place, Hanoi in Vietnam in third, Florence in Italy in fourth, and the French capital of Paris rounding out the top five.

On the U.S. front, good old New Orleans landed the number one spot. The cuisine in the Louisiana city is influenced by Creole, Cajun, African, Spanish, and French flavors. Be sure to try beignets with a café au lait and some jambalaya.
