Known to some as ATL or Hotlanta, Atlanta is the capital city of Georiga. This bustling city is one of the most lively places to be in South because of its significance in the art world, the music world, and for being the center for many global companies. Not only is Atlanta hot at the moment, it’s been the birthplace of political and social change going back the Civil War as well as the Civil Rights Movement. Visit Atlanta and see what all the hype’s about.

What To Do

Some of the most incredible museums in the country can be found in Atlanta, and there is something to please everyone. The High Museum of Art is an all-encompassing art museum that holds pieces from European painters, to African art, to contemporary sculptures and installations. This museum also has the biggest photographic piece collection in the Southeastern part of the US, and it’s really worth checking it out.

The history of Atlanta cannot and should not be ignored if you’re visiting. Take a trip to the National Center for Civil and Human rights for a shocking and powerful experience. This museum not only uncovers secrets from the past, such as exhibits on MLK’s letter correspondences to other leaders of the world in the 1950s and 60s but also covers the present day. They often have exhibits that are hands-on and accessible to younger audiences, while still remaining informational and captivating.

Atlanta is the headquarters of the Coca-Cola company, which also created World of Coca-Cola. This museum is such a fun and different excursion for families and friends. World of Coca-Cola gives each patron an experience of the history of the company, how coke came to be, and ample complimentary samples from an enormous variety of coke flavors that cannot generally be found at your local supermarket.

The Georgia Aquarium is another must-see destination. It is one of the largest aquariums in the world and houses more than 100,000 animals in 10 million gallons of water.  What is so special about the aquarium besides feeling like you’re in the ocean alongside them, is the special programs they do. For example, there are certain times where you can actually sleep at the aquarium under the tanks! There is no comparison to sleeping at an aquarium than staying at a hotel for the night.

Where To Eat

Atlanta’s food scene is nothing short of impressive and extensive. If you are looking for a southern BBQ experience, there’s no place better than Community Q BBQ. This restaurant is one of Atlanta’s top 50 restaurants, and serves up amazing St. Louis style ribs, along with all the classic southern dishes you can imagine.

If you’re looking to go a little ritzier and dine like Oprah, visit Southern Art. This restaurant was created by Art Smith, Oprah’s former private chef of 10 years. This restaurant takes southern cooking and makes it local. Southern Art follows the philosophy of farm to table, so when you eat there, you are really tasting Atlanta.
