The medicinal properties of plants have been healing us for millennia. All over the world, the weird and wonderful flora of this planet has looked after us and treated our diseases and ailments. Here are four medicinal plants from around the world that you’ve got to see.

Gingko

This ancient tree has lived in China for around 270 million years. Today, it is best known to treat brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. But it is also effective at relieving the symptoms of anxiety and depression, promoting bone healing, and reducing inflammation.

Turmeric

Native to India, the well known bright orange turmeric root is excellent at reducing the inflammation of the joints, arthritis, treating skin conditions, and preventing cancer and some genetic conditions.

Why do we love it? 🍍PINEAPPLE fruit contains a mixture of sulfur-containing proteolytic enzymes known as bromelain. Bromelain and the consumption of whole pineapple has an anti-inflammatory effect and may speed recovery following traumatic injuries. ✨GINGER rhizome may improve neuralgic pain and inhibit inflammatory enzyme systems. Ginger is also settling to the stomach, calms gas, and has an antispasmodic and warming effect. ✨TURMERIC rhizome contains the yellow-pigmented anti-inflammatory known as curcumin. Curcuma extracts are useful for inflammatory conditions including arthritis, trauma, and inflammation that is secondary to infection. 🍍🥥✨🧡 GINGER AND PINEAPPLE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY SMOOTHIE RECIPE Fresh turmeric root is increasingly available at the produce department of groceries and may be used instead of the dry powder where available. Yield: 3 liquid cups. INGREDIENTS 🍍 2 cups (200 g) fresh pineapple 🍍 1 cup (250 mL) coconut water 🍍 1 tablespoon ginger root, peeled 🍍 1⁄2 teaspoon turmeric powder DIRECTIONS Combine all the ingredients in a blender and puree. Transfer the blend to a large glass and enjoy! To use, prepare 1 or 2 anti-inflammatory smoothies per day and continue for a week or more post-surgically or in other situations where anti-inflammatory support is needed.
