Rum is one of the most popular alcoholic beverages which comes in many different styles and flavors. If you’ve tried a few different brands, you know that not all rums are the same. Some of the best rum comes from the Caribbean, but these three are absolutely the best countries to enjoy the high-quality drink.

Barbados

Barbados is believed to be the original home of rum. It has been distilled here since the 17th century and the first rum distillery Mount Gay was open in 1703. Barbados rum is perfectly blended and aged until the flavors are at their peak.

Cuba

Rum from Cuba was especially popular during Prohibition when the Americans came to the island to get it. Important Cuban rum is pretty easy to find around the world but you’ll have less luck in the U.S. because of the trade restrictions.

Jamaica

There were around 150 rum distilleries in Jamaica in the early 1900s but only four work today: Appleton Estate, Hampden Estate, Worth Park Estate, and National Rums of Jamaica. Those four are enough to make Jamaican rum one of the best and most sought after rums in the world.
