It’s never a bad idea to bring your own food onto a plane. Whether you’re someone who doesn’t trust those little plastic trays or you know for fact you won’t be given a meal on your flight, it never hurts to bring at least a few things.

But, there are definitely foods that better to travel with than others, so don’t make a mistake by bringing these foods.

Bananas

Bananas are unfortunately one of the worst foods to bring onto a plane unless you have a special banana holder that will protect it. After you leave your house, and by the time you get through security, you’ll have probably smashed your banana even if you were super careful, so opt out of it and choose another fruit.

Tuna

Tuna is full of protein and even though you can find them in packets perfect for traveling, you probably want to leave them at home. Not only is the smell a little unappealing for some people, but if you get any on your clothes, you’ll smell like tuna for the rest of the flight.

Chips

Chips and pretzels are super high in salt, and even though they might seem harmless, they will help you feel super bloated between the salt content and the altitude, so go for a healthier snack like cut up veggies.
