Different shades of Ladakh 😍

Ladakh is a very unique region in India—the formidable Himalayas separate the Indian subcontinent from the Ladakh desert and create a distinct area with (mainly Buddhist) culture and special, unique views. Ladakh is actually a cold desert, dotted with green valleys and snowy mountains at very high altitudes.

The main city of Ladakh is La, an inviting, pleasant, and comfortable city, that has a variety of accommodation, shops, and even a pedestrian zone.

A trip to Ladakh is highly recommended precisely because it is not the touristy and familiar part of India. The significant Buddhist presence (and no less important—the delicious Momo!), the proximity to Pakistan and China, and the alien-like landscapes make Ladakh a must-see destination for any traveler to India.
