If you enjoy visiting beautiful bookstores and libraries in every new place you visit, you’ll feel right at home in Johannesburg. This South African city is home to the largest used book stock in the entire Southern Hemisphere – the Collectors Treasury.

Housed in an eight-story building of Johannesburg’s Central Business District, Collectors Treasury has been around since 1974. With over millions used and rare books in stock, it prides itself on being the largest establishment of its kind on the African continent.

This unusual bookstore is a true paradise for book lovers – its every corner is crammed with second-hand books, and some visitors spend hours scanning through its towering floor-to-ceiling shelves and looking for rare finds that are out of reach everywhere else.

Books aren’t the only thing you’ll find at Collectors Treasury. This Johannesburg bookstore also houses a wide range of maps, prints, engravings, newspapers, photographs, small antiques, and collectibles. It’s also home to an impressive collection of over 300,000 vinyl records.
