Phuket is a popular holiday destination among tourists. While this means there are plenty of fantastic tours and everyone speaks English, it can also be difficult to experience authentic Thai culture when there seems to be more Westerners than Thai people around town.
In the town of Karon near Kata Beach, you will find the Art Space Gallery and Music Bar. Inside, the decor is a thing of bohemian dreams. Lanterns hang from every corner and handmade crafts are sprawled across every surface. The owners of the cafe are both artists and their own creations are hung across the walls.
At night, the cafe transforms into a live music venue. A drumkit stands in front of a giant white Christmas tree and the colorful array of dim lights are switched on. The cocktail menu is as colorful as the decor and there truly is something for everyone.
The lunch menu contains too many items to count. If you are craving Western food, you can choose from a selection of mouthwatering burgers or pizzas.
There is also a wide selection of Thai dishes, including a surprising range of vegan options. I chose Thai cauliflower dish, which was crispier and more flavorsome than I was anticipating. The prices are reasonable and the food is some of the most delicious I have experienced during my time in Thailand.
Surprisingly, the Art Space is quiet by day, despite being the top rated cafe on Tripadvisor. If you are looking for some delicious Thai food, a bohemian experience and some peace and quiet in the bustling town of Phuket, this hidden gem is certainly the place to go.
