The Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous avenues in Paris, France (and in the wolrd) and it’s going to receive a green facelift soon.

The avenue will be transformed into a beautiful space that’s great for walking, as the city’s Mayor Anne Hidalgo approved the big renovation project.

The new plan aims to reduce the traffic by half—from eight to four lanes—and allow more space for pedestrians on wide sidewalks. It also accounts for more greenery, or as the plan calls it, “planted living rooms”.

The changes are meant first and foremost to match the new standards of the city of Paris in regards to ecology and green living. In addition, the plan will hopefully attract more visitors to the area as the city has suffered a major attack on tourism due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new plans were drawn up by architect Philippe Chiambaretta and his agency PCA-STREAM.

The avenue is famous for its beauty but it certainly lost some of its splendor over the years. It’s due for an update and it’s not difficult to imagine how it can look even more stunning than it does right now.
