While Texas is probably the last place you think of when it comes to a winter wonderland, they are offering a great day trip perfect for this holiday season.

The Grapevine Vintage Railroad is planning a Christmas Wine Train this December that is sure to be a one-of-a-kind experience for wine lovers and vintage train buffs. The experience will happen on the railroad’s authentic 1920s-era trains, which will be decorated for Christmas and will go through some of the most scenic places.

The trains are set to depart for their two-hour excursions from Fort Worth on December 3 and from Grapevine on December 10 and December 17.

Due to the pandemic, ticketed passengers must provide their names to make a reservation, for contact tracing. Passengers must also be at least 21-years-old.

When on the train, passengers will receive two glasses of local Texas wine, a souvenir glass, hors d’oeuvres, and holiday entertainment including a visit from Santa and a DJ.

Grapevine, Texas is known as the “Christmas Capital of Texas” from their holiday-themed events in the city. Other Christmas-themed events in the city include the Gaylord Texan Resort’s annual Lone Star Christmas village, the Holiday Bricktacular at Legoland Discovery Center, classic Christmas movies and live performances at the Historic Palace Theatre, and Scuba Diving Santa at Sea Life Grapevine Aquarium.

Tickets for the wine train are $45 per person. For more information, visit the Grapevine Texas website.
