Hotel breakfast buffets are one of the highlights of any vacation, but if you’re trying to be healthy, they can be super overwhelming. Between the cereals, pastries and baked goods, cheeses, meats, eggs, and fresh fruits, there are a ton of foods to choose from, but knowing what belongs on your plate is challenging. Don’t fear—here are five tips to help you get a healthy start to your day.

Avoid Salty Foods

Salty meats like bacon and sausage sure are tempting, but they’re filled with sodium which will leave you thirsty all day. The last thing you want when seeing a new city is to have to take bathroom breaks constantly.

Say No to Sugary Cereals

Sugary cereals are delicious, but they also result in a sugar crash. Cereal is one of the easiest things to have for breakfast and if it’s a staple you can’t say no to, eat non-sugary ones.

Eat an Omelette

Some hotels have omelette stations, which we think are the best breakfast option. They’re fresh, made on the spot, and full of protein which keeps you feeling full.

Eat Fruit

Make sure your meals have plenty of fruit, which is full of fiber and will keep you satisfied. Don’t be afraid to grab a piece of fruit from the buffet so you can enjoy it while you’re sightseeing.

Sit Far from the Buffet

You’ll be less likely to overeat and go back for seconds and thirds if you sit farther away from the buffet. There’s nothing wrong with going back for more food, but you don’t want to stuff yourself.
