The UK has some incredible and varied landscapes. From rugged hills and moorland to quaint coves and jutting cliffs, there are many stunning areas to visit. Around the UK there are some very special forests and woodland areas. While these are well worth a visit any time of year, they are teeming with life and vibrancy the most in the spring. Here are three forest areas around the UK to visit in the spring.

Dunollie Wood, Oban (Scotland)

These gorgeous trees are spread out over a steep hill on the edge of Oban. While there are well-trodden paths running through, these woods still have a wild feel to them. Greenery explodes from all angles come springtime, and through this dense flora you’ll catch glimpses of the sea and nearby islands.

Fingle Gorge, Devon (England)

The Fingle Gorge follows the path of the River Teign, and the stunning valley is covered with woodland. You can pick any spot along the gorge and you’ll find yourself among glorious trees covered in ivy, ferns, and lichen. These forests feel like you’ve wandered straight into a fairytale.

Wentwood Forest, Monmouthshire (Wales)

This beautiful area is one of the oldest forests in Wales, and the ancient trees continue to provide incredible habitats and a wonderful place to visit. In the spring you’ll find bluebells dotted across the forest floor, and plenty of wildlife buzzing around.
