If you’re a person who can’t get enough cheese in their life, you’re in luck. There are countless countries on this earth with a rich, cheesy history, and you can visit all of them. You’ll notice pretty quickly that all of the countries on this list exist in Europe, but each of them have their own unique contribution to the delicacy known as cheese.

Italy

Pizza, pasta, and wine—need we say more? Each of these three food items all have a unique connection to cheese, and they all happen to be staples of Italy. This country is known for its enchanting food, and its cheese history is no different, having contributed the iconic mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, gorgonzola, and ricotta cheeses to the world.

Switzerland

Switzerland is so important to the development of cheese that there’s literally a cheese named after it! However, unbeknownst to many, Swiss cheese isn’t the only kind of Swiss cheese (as weird as that is to say). Le Gruyère and Tête de Moine are also delicious cheese varieties that owe their existence to the country of Switzerland.

France

Some of our very favorite cheeses wouldn’t exist if not for the French, and we’ll be forever in their debt. Some of these cheeses include the wonderfully intoxicating Brie, the delicious Camembert, and of course Roquefort.
