If you’re getting ready to go on a trip but haven’t decided on the optimal destination, it’s important to consider what you’re looking for. For example, perhaps you love baked goods, and therefore it’s important to you to travel to a country that excels at it. If that’s the case, you’re in luck because many countries—especially in Europe—have some of the best bakeries in the world, and here are three of them.

France

France is the most classic example of a country known for its incredible selection of baked goods. If you love croissants, there really is no better place to visit than France, and you’ll find yourself in heaven roaming from one “boulangerie” to the next.

Italy

Another country that’s pretty popular for being a haven for baked goods is Italy. While France excels more when it comes to sweet pastries, Italian’s bread and butter (pun intended) is its regular, unsweetened varieties. From focaccia to ciabatta, you really can’t go wrong with all of the bread that Italy has to offer.

Turkey

Turkey is more of an underrated country when it comes to its bakeries, but it surely does deliver. Their bakeries are called “fırın” or “pastane”, and you can find all sorts of great treats there. Some of those treats include the well known baklava, which is a sweet and flaky pastry with honey and nuts.
