Many of us know the true joy of hearing the pitter-patter of tiny feet, welcoming our new bundle of joy into the world and completing our happy family.
But for many couples around the world, the journey to becoming parents is often not easy.
Struggling with fertility is a common issue around the world, with many people opening up about their own difficulties to conceive.
But for Breanna and Aaron Lockwood, the answer to their fertility issues came from the most unlikely source—and hit headlines around the world.

Let’s take a look back at this amazing story and the truth behind the Lockwoods’ miracle birth.
Parents to Be
Aaron and Breanna Lockwood in many ways seemed to have the perfect home life. With a happy marriage and their naturally positive and smiling personalities, everyone who knew them could assume that this young, successful couple were enjoying everything they wanted out of life.
Even though the two of them did love each other dearly and enjoyed their life together, there was one thing that was still missing from their lives—welcoming a child into the world.

However, the Lockwoods had no idea the long and difficult journey that was ahead of them before becoming parents.
Secret Struggles
On the outside, it seemed the perfect time for the Lockwoods to think about starting a family and adding a child to their happy and loving home. But they had no idea of the difficulties that were awaiting them as they began their long journey to parenthood.

When they first began trying for a baby, they remained patient and hoped they would conceive naturally. But as time went on, it became clear that things were not going to be easy for the potential parents—and that help would come from the most unlikely of sources.
Devastating Blow
For this young couple, hoping against hope to one day become loving parents, they would suddenly be dealt a crushing blow. After many years of trying to get pregnant, and struggling through infertility and miscarriages, they consulted their doctor about what they should do next.
But neither of them was ready for the tragic news they were about to receive regarding their chances of conception.

Aaron and Breanna Lockwood knew that having a baby would not necessarily be easy—but even they weren’t ready for just how difficult this sudden piece of news would be for them.
Tough Times
Breanna Lockwood opened up about how difficult it was when she and her husband were going through their fertility struggles. They so desperately wanted a baby that they could love and care for, but fate seemed to have other ideas regarding their dreams of becoming parents.

"Struggling with infertility was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through," Lockwood said to Good Morning America. "When you have a plan for your life and then something like infertility gets in the way, I felt like I couldn't see what I pictured anymore, that it could be taken away from me.”
Final Answer
As time went on, the Lockwoods continued to try their hardest to conceive, going through long rounds of IVF and hormone treatment to try and get pregnant and welcome their own baby into the world.
However, these long and painful attempts were about to be hit with some devastating news from the couple’s doctor.
“After many many years of infertility and loss, we had our doctor come to us and say that ultimately my uterus was incapable of growing a child,” Breanna Lockwood revealed.

And this wasn't the only shocking news they were to receive that day.
Painful Procedure
Breanna Lockwood spoke candidly about her experience with fertility and pregnancy loss.
“On our path to become parents, I had a few miscarriages,” she shared. “And one that required a D&C (procedure to remove pregnancy) and I developed a condition called Ashermans Syndrome. Ashermans Syndrome is where bands of scar tissue form inside your uterus. Most commonly from a D&C procedure. Google will tell you it’s rare, but that’s not true. It mostly goes undiagnosed. I had no idea this could happen prior to going in to the operating room that day, and I am still devastated by it.”

With this new diagnosis, the Lockwoods’ chance at conception was slipping even further away.
